Dedicated Roads

The Newtown Township Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of ALL Dedicated roads within the Township. All dedicated roads have a right-of-way along the edge of 4 to 15 feet where utilities and sidewalks are placed .  The right-of-way is maintained by the adjacent property owner however the Township by permit oversees all work and repairs in the right-of-way.

Non-Dedicated Roads

All Non-Dedicated and private roads, or roads that have not been released by the builder to the township, are the sole responsibility of the builder and/or elected Homeowner’s Association or property owners.

State Owned Roadways

Within the Township of Newtown there are several Pennsylvania state owned roadways. The maintenance and provisions of state roads within the Township are in no way related to the Public Works office.

The Pennsylvania state roads within Newtown Township are:

  • Route 532 (Washington Crossing Road/Buck Road)
  • Route 332 (Richboro/Almshouse Road)
  • Route 413 (Durham Road)
  • Stoopville Road (Rt. 413/Durham Road to Rt. 532/Washington Crossing Road)
  • Swamp Road from Twining Bridge Road to Durham Road
  • All of the Newtown Bypass
If you need to report an issue that could create safety concerns, like missing signs or roadway hazards with any Pennsylvania state owned roadways, please contact PennDOT at 1-800-FIX-ROAD. For Emergencies, we strongly encourage you to call 911 in addition to submitting the concern for PennDOT review.
